AEGEANFLOAT: Terna Energy plans a 45 MW floating wind pilot in Greece
AEGEANFLOAT is a 45 MW floating offshore wind pilot planned for the Aegean Sea in Greece. Terna Energy is developing it with Saitec Offshore Technologies. The plan is three 15 MW turbines on concrete floating platforms, using Saitec's SATH (Swinging Around Twin Hull) design with a single-point mooring.
The project is one of 77 net-zero projects picked for the European Commission's Innovation Fund, announced on 19 October. Together they share EUR 3.4 billion. The funded scope covers site characterisation, platform design, installation, grid connection and operation. The European Investment Bank also supports the development work.
The aim is to prove the technology at pre-commercial scale and collect technical, environmental and cost data. That data could help with permitting for future floating wind farms.
The source gives no construction dates. Terna Energy also holds a licence for a separate 400 MW pilot offshore wind farm in the Thracian Sea. Motor Oil and Terna Energy are targeting completion of that project by the end of 2030.

Offshore and floating experience is rare. Watch Terna Energy and Saitec for contractor news. Note that no dates or contractors are named yet.
This is a small pilot with no dates yet, so don't wait for it. Get GWO BST and BTT now and look for onshore work in Greece first.
Pilot projects are short. Greek wind O&M and the larger 400 MW Thracian Sea plan are better long-term bets.
