Berwick Bank B: SSE picks Seaway7 as preferred supplier for foundations and cables

// WHAT HAPPENED

SSE Renewables has chosen Seaway7 as preferred supplier for the foundations and subsea inter-array cables at Berwick Bank B, a 1.4 GW offshore wind project in Scotland. The scope covers design, supply and installation.

This is not a final contract yet. SSE aims to take a final investment decision (FID) on the project in 2027.

SSE says the work would support 465 UK jobs, including 400 in Scotland. Seaway7 would create about 160 direct roles, led from its Aberdeen base. Another 105 jobs are expected in the UK supply chain, and 200 more through foundation marshalling at a Scottish port that has not been named yet.

Across all Berwick Bank B commitments, SSE counts around 600 jobs in the UK. This includes an operations and maintenance base at Montrose Port, with 100 long-term jobs and about 30 construction roles.

Berwick Bank B is phase two of the 4.1 GW Berwick Bank project, about 38 km off the Scottish Borders coast. The project got consent in July 2025. Phase B won a 20-year CfD in UK Allocation Round 7 in January 2026.

Watch for the final contract and the 2027 FID. Seaway7 has worked on Beatrice, Seagreen and Dogger Bank, so people from those jobs are likely first in line. Keep your offshore and cable certificates up to date.

New to wind

Nothing is hiring offshore yet. Use the time to get GWO BST and sea survival. Marshalling and port roles often come before vessel jobs.

Looking for stability

The Montrose Port O&M base offers 100 long-term jobs. Those are the roles to follow if you want a settled local post in north-east Scotland.
