Dogger Bank C: Cadeler's Wind Apex to join turbine installation in 2027

// WHAT HAPPENED

Cadeler has signed a firm contract for transport and installation of turbines at Dogger Bank C, a 1.2 GW offshore wind farm in the UK. Its newbuild vessel Wind Apex is due to join the campaign in Q3 2027.

The project uses 87 GE Vernova Haliade-X 14 MW turbines. Wind Apex will work alongside the vessel already contracted for this work. That is Jan De Nul's Voltaire, which has been used under the Dogger Bank A & B contract (2020) and the Dogger Bank C contract (2021). Seaway Ventus recently joined it and is now installing turbines at Dogger Bank B.

Dogger Bank C will be Wind Apex's first job after delivery from the COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry yard in China. It is the third A-class vessel, after Wind Ally and Wind Ace. Cadeler says it could also be offered for other Dogger Bank phases.

The 87 monopiles and the offshore substation for phase C were installed in 2025. The farm is owned by SSE Renewables (40%), Equinor (40%) and Vårgrønn (20%). A fourth phase, Dogger Bank D (1.5 GW), is proposed.

Phase B work overlaps with the run-up to phase C. Contact installation contractors and the turbine maker early for 2027 slots.

New to wind

Get GWO BST and offshore basics done now. Entry roles on vessels and at port open up more once the second vessel arrives.

Looking for stability

Aim for operations and maintenance roles. Equinor will operate the farm, and the service work will last many years.
