Baltica 2: BGB Group wins scaffolding and access work on four offshore substations
UK-based access specialist BGB Group has won the offshore scaffolding and construction services framework for Baltica 2, the 1.5 GW wind farm that PGE and Ørsted are building in the Polish Baltic Sea.
BGB will support construction, cable termination and commissioning on the project's four offshore substations. It will deliver the work through its Polish company in Gdańsk.
The scope covers engineered temporary access and construction support. It also includes the termination of array, export and interconnector cables. Work is called off as needed during the offshore construction campaign. The framework runs to the end of 2027, with options to extend.
Baltica 2 lies about 40 km off the Polish coast, near Ustka and Łeba. Full commissioning is expected by the end of 2027. BGB says it has done similar substation and cable work since 2017, much of it for Ørsted.
The source covers substation work only. It does not mention turbine installation.

| ROLE | WHEN | DEMAND | CERTIFICATES THAT HELP |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scaffolder / offshore access technician | Now – 2027 | MEDIUM | GWO BST, offshore medical, scaffolding qualification, OPITO-type sea survival |
| Rigger / banksman | Now – 2027 | MEDIUM | Slinger Signaller, GWO BST, GWO Enhanced First Aid |
| HV / cable termination and commissioning technician | 2026-H4 – 2027 | MEDIUM | HV authorisation, EuP, GWO BST |
| HSE / permit coordinator | Now – 2027 | STEADY | NEBOSH or equivalent, GWO BST |
If you have offshore scaffolding, rigging or cable termination experience, contact BGB's Gdańsk office or the main contractors. Call-off work means demand can change quickly.
Get GWO BST and an offshore medical first. Access and support roles can be a way into offshore work, but entry posts here are likely to be few.
This is a short campaign that ends in 2027. Treat it as a stepping stone and look at Baltica 2 operations and maintenance roles from 2028.
